Products & Materials
- QWhat is the difference between MUKU and SHOKEI?
-
MUKU is a one-of-a-kind work reconstructed from an actual bonsai whose life has come to an end.
SHOKEI is bonsai artwork created from the ground up using materials such as Tosa washi (traditional Japanese handmade paper) and clay. - QDo you use real plant materials?
-
MUKU uses actual bonsai materials, including trunks and branches.
SHOKEI is made entirely from non-living materials. - QWhat kind of washi do you use?
-
We use Tosa washi, one of Japan’s three renowned washi traditions.
It is characterized by its layered fibers and natural texture. - QDo you use real moss or soil?
-
No. The textures are recreated using materials such as washi, clay, and dyes.
- QDo the works have a scent?
-
MUKU may retain a faint scent from its natural materials, but no fragrance is added. It is unscented.

-
No watering or light-related care is required. Gently dusting the work occasionally with a soft brush or cloth is sufficient.
- QWill the colors fade over time?

Under normal indoor conditions, the work can retain its beauty for a long time. Please avoid direct sunlight and high humidity.
